Can you make money without having a purpose?
This is a question I was asked recently after sharing a presentation on meaningful business. The short answer is yes, but for me, the better question is how would you like to make money? Many of us would not sacrifice our values, morals or beliefs in pursuit of the Yankee dollar, yet others might be perfectly happy having a negative effect on the environment, on employees or on vendors. How you choose to make your money (and why) is entirely up to you. Not being clear on which approach is right for you may mean that you are unintentionally impacting your stakeholders in a negative way. Thoughts?
